Responsible Executive: Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

I. PURPOSE

The Honors Committee is organized to promote the Honors Program at Motlow State Community College (Motlow State); review practices, policies, and procedures in the Honors Program; review applicants for the Honors Scholarship; recruit faculty and potential scholars to join the Honors Program; and recommend and approve changes to the Honors Program processes and procedures.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. The duties and responsibilities of the Honors committee include:
    1. Recruitment
      1. Recruit capable students in traditional classes to join the Honors Program
      2. Recruit for enrollment in all Honors Courses
    2. Coordination of the Program
      1. Propose/recommend changes to practices, policies, and procedures
      2. Review Honors Scholarship applications
      3. Submit timely votes for Honors business
    3. Serve as a resource for all faculty who teach in the Honors Program
    4. Attend and assist with Honors events, such as the annual Honors Symposium

III. APPOINTMENTS

  1. The committee is composed of the following members:
    1. Honors Director (ex officio); and
    2. Honors Faculty (3-year appointments)
      1. One (1) from each department that offers Honors courses:
        1. Languages
        2. Social and Behavioral Sciences
        3. Humanities
      2. One (1) from each location:
        1. Moore County
        2. Smyrna
        3. McMinnville
        4. Fayetteville
