The study of theatre engages students in an exploration of the world from multiple perspectives, while developing artistic skills and cultivating their capacities for collaboration, critical-thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication. 

Motlow’s A.S. in Theatre Performance degree prepares you for transfer to most four-year institutions. The program introduces theatre appreciation, acting classes, design and stagecraft (woodworking), storytelling, and play production. This major offers students a creative edge in the marketable field of communication by exposing them to creative training in the performing arts.

Theatre at Motlow State Community College teaches you to work on stage, backstage, and in the scene shop. The field is wide, relating to business, retail, public relations, journalism, law, and English.

The Theatre program fosters your ability to think reasonably and communicate intelligently and creatively. Through these entry-level courses, students learn valuable skill sets, vocabulary, history, and hands-on experience.
