7-Week Classes

Fall and Spring semesters include a variety of seven-week sessions that can help you graduate in less time. Many of our seven-week sessions are designed to allow you to complete a two-course series in one full semester. Ask your completion coach for more information on how you can complete a series like Biology I and Biology II (and many others) in a single semester. You can find these classes in each semester’s schedule by searching for “first session” or “second session.”

ACE

Adult College Express (ACE) is a degree pathway designed exclusively for adult learners. Most ACE classes are intensive courses, meaning students take one class at a time instead of several classes simultaneously. ACE offers a selection of customized degree plans. Most classes are about one month long. This allows learners to take at least two classes each semester. While these degree pathways reflect a standard two-year plan, ACE was developed to help prevent postponing college dreams! Adult learners are busy people. ACE can help them finish faster simply by getting started sooner and by offering schedules that help them stay on course. ACE degree pathways include an A.S. in Business Administration, A.S. in General Studies, A.S. in Sociology, A.S. in Business Office, and A.A.S. in Entrepreneurship. Learn more about ACE.

Credit for Prior Learning

You can also receive college credit for existing knowledge through a Prior Learning Assessment. If you have relevant on-the-job training, military experience, volunteer work, or other form of subject matter expertise, you may be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning. Credit for prior learning can often fast-track degree plans. You can achieve credit by examination, or by portfolio presentation. Credit Transfer Options

Dual Enrollment

High School students can take college classes that apply to both their high school and collegiate degrees. Students can take classes online, on-ground at one of Motlow’s five teaching sites, or at their local high schools. Those who opt to take a full collegiate courseload during their junior and senior years can simultaneously earn their high school and associate’s degrees.  Learn the requirements for becoming a dual-enrollment student.

Maymester

Earn a credit quickly with Maymester. This is a once-a-year opportunity for students to earn three college credits in less than one month each May. You can find Maymester classes in the summer course schedule by searching for the keyword “Maymester.”

Short Summer Sessions

In addition to a full, traditional semester, Motlow also offers summer minimester classes. Short summer sessions can speed up your education and offer flexible course scheduling. You can take one class at a time and still complete two courses in one summer session. Many short summer session classes are also online as well as on campus. You can find short-session classes in the summer course schedule by searching for the keywords “first half” and “second half.”

Weekend College

For those who cannot attend college courses offered at traditional times, Motlow’s Smyrna campus offers general education courses on Fridays and Saturdays. Courses can be completed one at a time in three consecutive weekends and allow students to complete an Associate of Science in General Studies. The Weekend College program is not faster than Motlow’s traditional programs, but it enables many students to overcome the obstacles in their pursuit of a college education faster, preventing the delay of achieving their college dreams.
