An Family and Consumer Sciences concentration equips you with a comprehensive body of knowledge to help people make informed decisions about their well-being and relationships. You’ll develop the research skills necessary to share resources to achieve optimal quality of life.

The A.S. concentration at Motlow in Family and Consumer Science prepares you for transfer to a college or university through the Tennessee Transfer Pathway (TTP). TTPs enable you to complete your degree at Motlow and then seamlessly transfer to any Tennessee public, and many private, universities to complete your bachelor’s degree.

Today’s Family and Consumer Sciences profession is about making a difference in the lives of others. The Family and Consumer Sciences concentration is a good fit for you if you’re interested in issues affecting families and consumers, and interested in a wide range of educational subjects. Family and Consumer Science students attain skills to assist families and consumers with quality-of-life decisions. You help alleviate their challenges related to relationships, consumer and financial resource management, personal development, nutrition and wellness, and balancing family and work.
