CONCRETE MANAGEMENT

The concrete construction industry is ripe with career opportunities for college students who want more than a cookie-cutter pathway. If you also have a passion for building, the Concrete Management concentration at Motlow State is just what you are looking for.

Motlow’s Associate of Science is designed for transfer to Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) for a bachelor’s degree in Concrete Industry Management or Construction Management.

Concrete coursework covers three broad areas: concrete materials science (mix design, testing, quality control, troubleshooting, etc.), concrete construction technology and techniques (placement and finishing operations, use of new products, etc.), and applied project, production, and sales/marketing management for the concrete industry (ready mix and concrete products operations management, product/ industry promotion, estimating, scheduling, personnel management, etc.).

Career Opportunities After Earning a Bachelor’s Degree

  • Concrete Manager ($60k/year) 
  • Sales Representative ($65k/year) 
  • General Construction Laborer ($35k/year) 
  • CDL Driver/Mixer ($65k/year) 
  • Construction Foreman ($65k/year) 
  • Concrete Finisher ($22-25/hour) 

Students working at the associate degree level can expect to be more on the production side of the business. Most jobs require concrete workers to relocate as projects are completed. 

Graduates can pursue careers in an array of construction and building fields as well as manufacturing, marketing, planning, production management, purchasing management, quality control, and technical sales. Jobs are also available with concrete ready-mix producers and companies that make concrete products.
