Motlow Musicians Collaborate with Local Talent

Motlow’s music department is proud to close the 2023-2024 school year with two free musical performances on the Moore County Campus and invites the community to come enjoy the entertainment. The Music at Motlow faculty recital on March 26 features Motlow faculty members and professional music instructors who provide private lessons to Motlow’s music students. Motlow’s student choir plans to take their turn on the stage on April 25 and perform a variety of songs that will showcase their talents. The Humanities department makes these performances available to all who wish to attend and asks for donations rather than ticket fees to fund future performances and enhance Motlow’s Humanities Department.

Vocalists and instrumentalists participating in the Music at Motlow concert include Eric Leckrone on percussion, John Cook on guitar, John Harris on strings, Jonathan Woodfin on vocals, Sharon Edwards on vocals, Lisa Maurer on piano, Tom Maurer on woodwinds, and Dr. David Bethea on brass. The show starts at 7 p.m. and does not require a prior reservation.

The annual student spring concert begins with the serving of refreshments at 6 p.m., while the music begins at 7 p.m. The Motlow Vocal Ensemble consists of Jojo Jones, Allie Lingerfelt, Cheyenne Mcadoo, Elizabeth Parvin, Brianna Pence, Maven Robinson, Giovanni Salazar, Alexa Thompson, and Kohen West. The Community Band consists of both Motlow students and local musicians. Student musicians include Naomi Bierer on Clarinet, Cameron Or on Clarinet, Giovanni Salazar on Saxophone, and Christopher Spence on Percussion. Local musicians include Paul Bischoff on Trombone, Paul Bischoff Jr. on Trumpet, Lisa Maurer on Piano, John Cook on Guitar, Erik Leckrone on Drums, Noela Suarez on Trumpet, Brian Fleck on Bass, Mark Mahalic on Trombone, Steven Mahalic on Alto Saxophone, and Benjamin Mahalic on Percussion.

According to Dr. Bethea, Associate Professor of Music, “We always look forward to performing the Spring Concert, and we hope we have a big Motlow and community turn-out.”
